Highbury   Under 9’s ‘C’ team versus Chippenham Blue’s  at Sutton Veny Sat  27-3-10. KO  10.30.

For once the ground was dry along with the weather. A good turn out of parents and siblings added to the atmosphere of a good game. Although we lost, each and every one of the squad fielded played good football; this was reflected in the difficult task made by the manager (who finished up with a soar throat!!) in his decision of man of the match, who incidentally was Brandon, well done.                  

Our team was Sam in goal, Matthew, Brandon, Ronan, Kieran, Hayden, Ellis, Kyle, and Zack. We were also joined by Ben in support.

The game started with both sides on the attack, Chippenham took the first advantage and would have scored but for some excellent footwork by our keeper who saved the embarrassment of a first minute goal. This was returned by a striking attack by Brandon who narrowly missed a well set up goal.  The game rolled on both sides doing their best to gain advantage without success until after only 7 minutes of play Chippenham found an opening in our defence and capitalized on it by scoring the first goal of the match. Chippenham 1 - Highbury 0.   The second half opened with Highbury making all the moves. We pressurised them from all directions, and think I am write in saying that our keeper never had a touch in the whole of the second half. Unfortunately their keeper was very much on his toes and would not let a ball past him, he played a very good game, resulting in an excellent game played by two inspired sides. Final score Chippenham 1 Highbury 0.
