Melksham Park 3 U11 Blacks 5

For the third game in a row the Blacks failed to field eleven players but still managed to come away with a win. Facing a revitalised Melksham Park this game was billed as a must win game or face relegation for the second half of the season.  Highbury got off to a flying start after Chris Office chased down a lost cause and scrambled the ball past the home keeper.  But any hopes of the flood gates opening faded as Melksham hit two quick goals to send the Blacks into a mild panic. In a finally balanced game Luke Hardy levelled with five minutes remaining in the first half only to see Melksham take the lead seconds later after a mix up at the back between Brandon Thompson filling in as sweeper and Luke Slater the Highbury keeper. After the break it was Highbury who had all the possession and the chances began to stack up. Ross Melia smashed home an unstoppable header to make it three each before Recce Collier thumped home the forth to give the visitors the lead. Sam Rabcezk threatened down the left side and on the few times Melksham got forward they were met by Ben Muskin who put in a man of the match performance. Several players including Charlie Dillon had been poorly for several weeks but turned out despite being under the weather and it was his cross field ball that allowed Sam Thomas to set up Luke Hardy to make it five with a cracking sprit down the left to fire high into the roof of the net and seal all three points for Highbury.
