FC Chippenham slipped to their first defeat of the season against a Warminster team who on the day outplayed them with some great football. An early goal from Warminster unsettled Chippenham and although they pulled one back through a very well finished move by Christian Frimpong Warminster always looked dangerous on the break and called for some fine saves from Chippenham keeper Alex Bowers.
Kieran Fitzwater in midfield for Chippenham was in great form supporting the attack at one end and providing covering tackles at the other. Nathan Howell looked sharp up front but wasn’t his day to find the net. Will Ferguson came on in defence to replace Will Summers for the second half and added some composure to the back line.
Mid way through the second half and Warminster broke through the centre, dodging the offside trap and in a one on one with the keeper finished calmly to take the lead. The youths responded and played almost all of the last 10 minutes in the Warminster half and chances to equalise fell to Costain, Frimpong and Fenton but not easy in the strong wind and for the first time this season they could not find the goal to get a result.
