Melksham B 3, Under 10 C 0

Highbury ‘C’ team versus Melksham  ‘B’ team.

November 28th at George Ward School, Melksham. 10-30.

Players—Matthew, Ronan, Brandon,Kyle, Zack, Ellis, Kieron & Sam.    Kieron played in goal.

It was a cold wet end of November morning, on which I am assured all players from both sides would have rather been doing something else. But in true team spirit both teams turned up to support their coaches and managers. Well done them!.  The ground was very heavy and wet and to expect good performances in these conditions was asking a lot but never the less both teams tried. A quick attack by Melksham in the first three minutes resulted in a goal being scored from thirty yards (or metres) out, a return attack by Highbury in the Melksham end resulted in an exceptional save by their keeper, unfortunately in the skirmish to save the goal the keeper sustained a nasty blow to his lower arm and the game was stopped for a couple of minutes to see to him , he was ok and the game continued. Taking advantage of the situation Melksham made another frantic attack and drove through our defence and scored another goal 2-0.The rest of the first half was uninspired football, both teams looked tired and did not seem to be able to finish off their moves, half time score 2-0 to Melksham.

The second half did nothing to inspire either side,it went from one end to the other then back again, then from a good positional attack by Melksham a third goal was scored into an open goal making it 3-0 to them. The game then reverted to the same ‘hard work football’ with neither side able to inspire their teams into controlled attack, the game finished ,as it began in the rain.

Melksham 3---Highbury 0
