A very wet day at Mere saw Highbury Under 10 Bs play well in very difficult conditions.
The driving rain didn't dampen the teams spirits or the words of support from Highburys spectators.
Highbury started strong with Drew taking the ball all the way through to score the first goal of the game. 1-0.
Aiden and Drew broke through Mere's defence and set Chandler up for a shot, which set the score at 2-0.
Mere fought back with a blitz attack to make the score 2-1.
The game then remained fairly evenly balanced until Drew managed a further shot that went high just before the half time whistle.
Highbury fought hard in the second half, Callum, Drew and Chandler again mounting an attack that went wide.
Mere retaliated with an attack, the first shot was easily deflected by Dylan, and the rebound shot hit the post, thanks to good defending from Megan and Kieran.
Mere's next attack broke through to equalise. Their follow up also resulted in a goal, making the score 3-2 to Mere.
Drew and Chandler had a final attempt to bring the score back, but their shot went wide.
Final score 3-2.
