Under 10B's 3, Biddestone 2

The bright Sunday morning at the home ground was a welcome change from the last league game. A good start for the U10 B teams first Cup game, against Biddestone Youth. The whole game was fairly well paced with lots of action at both ends of the pitch. Play started off with a good push from Highbury. Josh took the first corner of the game, followed immediately by another. Chandler turned the second one into a shot but it was deflected. Biddestones goal kick was intercepted Drew who sent the ball back into the Biddestone attack zone. A lucky header from Chandler made the score 1-0 to Highbury. Biddestone attacked but Dylan was too quick for them. They attacked again, but Dylan saved their second shot too. Highbury attacked again, with Drew taking a shot, but Biddestone took possession and fought back. Dylan deflected their next shot, Biddestones resulting corner and throw in was stopped by Megan. With the ball back in Highbury control Drew and Taylor took the ball back up to Biddestones goal. The initial shot was deflected, but Chandler managed to tap it back in to make the score 2-0. Biddestone pushed again and placed another shot which was skillfully saved by Dylan. Aiden, Josh and Taylor took the play back up to attack Biddestone, keeping the pressure on. Biddestone broke back through and took another shot which was again deflected by Dylan. Josh recovered the ball and again pushed Highbury up to attack. Another powerful Josh corner gave Drew a good high powered kick at Biddestones goal, but their goalkeeper deflected it. Biddestone took possession again and fought the ball back to Highburys goal. A Biddestone free kick, just outside the penalty area, looked like it might even the scores but was heroically, and painfully ,deflected by Josh before the whistle blew for Half time. A few minutes into the 2nd half, Biddestone saw an opportunity and shot. It was powerful but too high. Biddestone took a corner which was again saved by Dylan. Highbury fought back, with Drew setting up Callum with a shot that made it 3-0. Biddestone won another corner, which was intercepted and cleared by Megan. But a further corner allowed them a shot which did make it through, changing the score to 3-1. Although both teams were now clearly tiring, the Intense play continued up and down the pitch. Biddestone took another corner but this was intercepted by Kieran and cleared. Biddestone attacked again but their shot went wide. Bidddestone won another free kick but an exceptional save by Dylan stopped it from being a goal. Biddestone shot again but this too was denied by Dylan. Daniel and Drew worked hard and attacked again, but the shot was saved by Biddestone. Josh took another corner which was intercepted by Biddestone and taken straight to Highburys goal. Another great deflection from Dylan stopped them from making it count. A Biddestone throw in caught Highburys defence off guard and allowed them to make the score 3-2. Renewed by this goal, Biddestone attacked hard again. Kieran intercepted and cleared the ball, with Josh stopping the next attack and clearing the ball again. Biddestone won another corner and hit another powerful shot, but it was too high to count. Biddestone kept the pressure on with another attack in the final moments of the game. In the scrabble around the goal, exceptional dedication from Dylan who got to and held onto ball even though the other team were still trying to kick it. The final whistle blew, leaving the score at 3-2 to Highbury, ensuring that the Under 10 B's make it into the next round.
