Dilton Rovers 0, Under 11 Blacks 11

Highbury Blacks travelled to Dilton Rovers in the first round of the League Cup and came away with an emphatic 11 goal win.  Four goals for Recce Collier and Luke Hardy plus three for Kurt Wilson eased the Blacks into the next round.  Dilton Rovers must be commended for their impressive commitment despite conceding so many early goals they never once gave up hope of scoring.  With key players missing through school commitments Highbury Blacks started the game with only nine players.  Ross Melia, Charlie Dillon and Brandon Thompson put in a double shift to try and keep the home team in their own half.  When the ball did eventually make its way into the Highbury half, it was met by an in form Edward Priestly playing centre back.  George Findlay found the ideal game to shine as he worked through the midfield and centre forward positions helping to create goal scoring opportunities.  Luke Slater had little to do until the final few minutes where the lack of substitutes began to tell on the tiered legs of the away team, but Dilton Rovers couldn’t capitalise.
