Highbury under 10’s played a league match against Trowbridge town on Sunday 04^th October 2009 at Sutton Veny. This was the second match of the season and despite Highbury dominating from start to finish, creating an endless supply of chances and limiting Trowbridge to the occasional long shot or break away the game ended in a tame 0 – 0 draw.

Highbury started positively with Luke Woods and Chay Andrews playing wide and looking to take on the opposing fullback at every opportunity with the intent of delivering crosses into the box for Joe Hardy and Louis Cole to attack. The play was almost solely one way and Highbury created chances, Woods shot wide and had another effort well saved whilst Hardy had a number of good efforts either blocked or saved.  Defensively Highbury were not tested to often but when they were both Adam Clark and Harry Guerri-Fear were playing well, winning their challenges and using the ball efficiently.

The first half continued in the same vein, Lyndon Parmley and Thomas Mcferran joined the fray and continued to create chances for their team. Parmley worked the flank with energy and commitment, he delivered a number of crosses into the penalty area which caused havoc but try as they might Highbury were unable to turn chances and possession into goals.

The second half started with Highbury in determined mood, they pushed forward but occasionally were caught on the break, Liam Gibbens needed to remain alert and marshalled his penalty area well, he was quick to leave his line and responded when needed with some good saves.

Highbury were playing well with Joe Hardy holding the ball up well and bringing Woods, Cole and his other team mates into the game. In doing so chances came and went and as time ebbed by, the finishing became more desperate and rushed.

Trowbridge had the occasional break away which caused the some moment of panic in the home defence, Andrews and Clark were ever alert and with the assistance of Gibbens they prevented Trowbridge from grabbing an undeserved winner.

Highbury will play games where they create far less and still win.
