Warminster Highbury Reds 2 Corsham 2nds 2
Highbury arrived at Corsham with only 10 players due to injuries, illness and other factors and as a result and showing exceptionally good sportsmanship the Corsham manager decided to play 10 players on his team to make it even.
The game kicked of with good pace, with both teams battling hard, with Corsham gaining the upper hand and putting the Highbury keeper, Sanjay under pressure, only for Sanjay to stop everything the Corsham players put his way.
It was Highbury who made real progress, Matthew beat the goal keeper but unluckily hit the post. Corsham then got a quick break on their right side only for Tanisha to make a great defensive tackle sending the ball across the field where Brandon Adderlley gave a great run from defence down the right hand side, finding Owen just inside. Owen then took on two Corsham players, beating the keeper and slotting the ball in the back of the net.
Highbury's lead was short lived and Corsham turning on the pressure rallied and scored an equaliser just before the break.
From the beginning of the second half, the Corsham team put the Highbury defence under pressure, only for William Parker Robbins to put in some great defensive tackles.
The game flowed from goal area to goal area with William Guerri Brown creating some great opportunities up front, putting the Corsham defence under pressure.
It was then Highbury who took the lead again. After a couple of shots at the Corsham goal were deflected, the ball was cleared out as far as Samuel, who shot at the goal, the ball flew between and passed a group of players, and straight into the back of the net.
With time running out, Corsham started applying pressure onto Highbury, which was thwarted by Brandon Cadman whose determination and excellent tackles stopped Corsham going forward and earned him man of the match. Again the lead was short lived as Corsham passed the ball around and managed to get behind the Highbury defence and slotted the ball into the net.
Highbury pushed for a winner with Ryan doing some good work up front but the game ended at 2-2.
The whole team of Sanjay MALIK, Ryan BOSHER, Brandon ADDERLEY, Brandon CADMAN, Owen KEEL, Samuel EVANS, William GUERRI- BROWN Matthew BENNETT, Tanisha CLARKE and William PARKER-ROBINS, must be congratulated on an excellent performance and an entertaining game.
