Highbury under 10’s C team, V Trowbridge D team.   Sunday 4th October 2009  12-30 at Sutton Veny.

This weeks team, Ben in goal(welcome back), Kyle, Mack and Zac in defence, Matthew, Ronan and Brandon played the front line.  Highbury kicked off and were soon into some very equal play, both teams took advantage and then were driven back into defence .The game was played like a yo-yo first one end then the other but neither team gaining that last bit of zip needed to finish the moves, until a frantic drive by Trowbridge from the halfway line caught Ben out of position and gave them the chance they needed to start the score line and they took it to open the score in the first 13 minutes. Trowbridge 1 –Highbury 0. This seemed to further stimulate Highbury and the rest of the first half was spent attacking their goal, unfortunately we could not quite finish the attacks by scoring.  Half time score Trowbridge 1-highbury 0.
During this game neither team fielded any substitutes (neither team had any), so after an encouraging team talk, they started the second half in the same positions as they finished the first half in. Unfortunately despite the team talk Highbury started off a little on the lethargic side and it did not take more than one minute for the Trowbridge side to take advantage  of a goal mouth melee and score their second goal. 2-0 against us. This goal seamed to perk up or even annoy our team  because the rest of the game was played predominantly in their half of the pitch with Ronan and Brandon making attack after attack but not quite able to turn their hard work into positive goals.
The game ended with Trowbridge winning by 2 goals to nill, both teams  showing visible signs of tiredness . One of the obvious problems of having no subs to help out.
