Worton and Cheveral 6, Under 10 C team 0

Highbury under 10’s  C team versus  Worton and Cheveral  on Saturday  26 September 2009 Kick off  11.00
Our players were RONAN, MATTHEW, KYLE, BRANDON, ZACK, BEN, HAYDEN and MACK.   Zack was in goal
with Ronan and Brandon up front, Matthew midfield, Ben, Kyle and Hayden in defence. Mack was sub to start.
It must be pointed out to start with that Worton and Cheveral have won both of their league matches very comfortably so we were expecting a real battle . We kicked off the first half with the sun to our backs.  Even so the formidable Worton and Cheveral team took the ball from us and within 30 seconds had scored their first goal, we were totally unprepared for such an attack, however after sizing things up and re grouping we started again.  Unfortunatly the next few minutes of the game were played defending our goal in our own half. Despite a couple of attacks by Ronan we were unable to take control and they were very soon 2 -0 up. Half time came and although we are two goals down Highbury felt they had got the measure of this very good team. They rose to the challenge and opened the second half  with grit and determination playing most of the session in  their half despite playing into a very strong sun. We played several strong attacks attempting strikes from every angle but their keeper was just to good.  All this strong play by Highbury soon showed in a tired team slowing down, Worton and Cheveral took advantage of the situation and quickly scored  a further four goals leaving a final score of 6-0.  Highbury played  an excellent game and could no way be criticized for their game play against such good opponents.
WELL DONE HIGHBURY ā€˜C’ TEAM

For his all-round excellent performance  KYLE was named man of the match by both the manager and players alike.

After the game, the Worton and Cheveral manager came across and thanked the team, then asked if they wished to have a go at a penalty shootout competition.  This was great fun, I think Highbury came out worse, but the lads enjoyed themselves.
